Okie Skate Comp...Pools Rule.

Had fun with this one.  All music is from Archive.org.  I tried to lower third all the names of the old jazz bands that I used.  Being behind the camera means that I don't get to skate in front of the camera, so people will ask, "is that you?" and I have to reply, "nope, I am running the camera."

1991? or so.

Another good one.  This is at the fair grounds in OKC. Danny Way was there.  I think we vibed out and went and skated the planters around the fairgrounds.  We were not supposed to do that.
There was a stage everyone was ollieing off of or something.

RIP Yellow Poles 'Darko. They were buried a long time ago.

Another Raw Video.

A trip at South Lakes. with a new podcast

Darrin Backside 50 50 Photo-Derek

Derek Up the bank to nose slide.  Photo-Darrin

Another, but better podcast.  More questions about Worldpeace and the current Oklahoma Heat.  I also go skating with Derek at South Lake Skatepark and then discuss a few things about skating, history etc on the way back to Edmond. I fixed the audio quite a bit compared to my first try.  I am using a zoom h2n and it seems to record kind of soft.  Music by the East Dallas Shufflers who are from OKC.  (I know...)
Have fun and listen:OkieDskatecast

Podcasting could be fun.

A sample podcast from yesterday.
I might try and do more of these.
It has been really hot lately.  We also had an incident on the court with a guy named "World Peace." It is getting to be near the end of turkey season.  too good.

The audio is bad on this one...

DIY ... Fad or not?

I remember using quickcrete to make a lil kicker bump when I was 15 or 16. Sometime in the late 80s. I think Thrasher had an article or something. We always had ramps and other things to skate as well. I had my own little skatepark out in the middle of nowhere in Washita, Ok. The kids in OKC are trying to do the same thing...and it is probably do to the magazines making certain things look "cooler."
Skateboarding is always fun!

Paint it today or it might go away

Painting by Me (Darrin)..blury photos by me
painting is (high school) 92 and photo is (college) 93

This painting is another classic example of skate art.  You draw/paint something out of the magazines that you read everyday.  I took the photo in 94 as a quick one-off of archiving something that may or may not survive.  My painting is monochrome pastels and is on a rather large canvas. The photo it comes from is of Kris Markovich and I forget which California high school stair case it was of...it was very popular.  KM lives according to google at : Given Skateboards.

Meet me at the gap at noon...we will party tell we drop.

Norman, Ok Gap.  I think we called this one the Kung-fu Gap...dont confuse this with the Kung-fu Gap in Edmond, Ok.  My dad took these photos of Tim and I one Sunday.  I am a little more tweaked then Tim and I think when I landed I only rolled for a bit before I slid out on the slick asphalt.

As you can tell Tim was a little more spot-on or bolts as skateboarders have said for a while now.
I think this was around '97 or '98.

There are politics when it comes to fly-outs.  Should I fly-out of this ramp or not?  Either way it is a fun thing to do, but unfortunately skateboarding is a fickle thing and will quickly shutdown fly-out showboats.

Another view of  a 360 mute fly-out of the mini ramp at Mitch Park in Edmond. I might post a sequence of this that turned out alright.

Rock-n-rolls no matter how simple they "seem" to be are always stylish, fun and cool.

Pool skating

It's an amazing thing when you find friends that help destroy the preconceived notions authority figures tried to bestow on you as a youth. My dad says skateboarding is an addiction...there can be good and bad addictions! When you spend lots of money to build a pool in your backyard knowing that a lot of time will be spent in said pool with no water in it you might have a "problem.". A good problem to have...
Above photo shot by my buddy Brad over at sharklahoma

Videos that may or may not be on here. I will post more.

Above video is of me and my buddy Tim draining a pool in Tulsa, Ok.

This video is of me and my buddy brad over at sharklahoma on a trip to southwest Oklahoma where we skated a weird park in Elk City, Ok, a great DIY park in Altus, Ok and a ditch in Lawton, OK.
This is a really old video. I think I shot this on my bachelor party night.  It is funny that my bachelor party consisted of me skating with my friends...or is it that funny?  Skating is mostly in Norman, Ok but some of it is in Chickasha, OK where I had moved to finish school.
